Topanga is the best wave in LA. While the wave doesn't offer the longest rides in town, it does have a quick fun face to rip, and its right in the heart of Venice Beach. The energy in the lineup varies, but as long as beginners keep away from the main peak there's no problems. This spot is great for beginners to catch white-wash, because of the mellow waves and sandy bottom.
